The Gỏi cuốn's Master Chefs at work!

Early Saturday morning, our group arrived at Cô Bích’s house at tám giờ sáng to make our gỏi cuốn. Cô Bích’s phở rất thơm (smelled very good)!
Cutting up different rau sống (vegetables), cooking our miến (vermicelli), Cô Bích also taught us how to make hai types of dipping sauces – nước chấm (made from fish sauce) and hoi sin sauce. Bánh tráng (rice paper) proved to be really difficult to handle initially and our first few gỏi cuốn turned out looking rất xấu! (Haha) During which, Cô Bích was tốt bụng enough to make us cafề (coffee)! Obviously, Cô Bích có không difficulty rolling those gỏi cuốn and at many times, she came screaming “không! Không! Roll like THIS la!” For a while, we were convinced she was a reincarnation of Hồ Chí Minh. Fortunately, we are bunch of fast learners. We managed to complete our sumptuous gỏi cuốn around chin giờ sang.Since we arrived and started earlier than the other teams, we decided to take a trip down to Kinokuniya to purchase wrapping paper as a part of our wonderful decoration. It did not take us very long before we realised that we needed to add more colour and substance to the red paper/white rice combination. Our neighbouring teams were tốt bụng enough to share some of their cà chua (tomatoes) with us. All in all it was original and although we were not quite sure how the food looked aesthetically, we stuck to our plan of not using plates. Thế thì tốt quá!Since some of the teams were still in the kitchen, crossword puzzles occupied us for the next hour, while mingling with the other sinh viên. The puzzles were surprisingly social and quite a bit of fun. Cô Bích aka Hồ Chí Minh at this point, ordered us to shred a HUGE gà con (chicken) for her phở. We were glad to help and rewarded ourselves with a few bites along the way. The gà con was really ngon (Good to eat)

By about một giờ, we were đói lắm and eagerly waiting to ăn trưa! Thế thì tốt quá! We truly had a good time at Cô Bích’s house and in the process learned more about the different types of Vietnamese cuisine. Cám ơn các Cô va em.
